About
David Cleary is a fully accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in Blessington, Co. Wicklow, with a BA Hons degree in counselling and psychotherapy. He is dedicated to helping individuals address the internal and external issues that are causing suffering and affecting many aspects of their lives. His work involves exploring each person’s unique personality, life experiences, and beliefs about themselves with a view to developing awareness of habitual and unhelpful patterns of thoughts, and behaviours and to make changes and different choices that will help them to live with more ease within themselves. Ultimately, the aim is to alleviate emotional and psychological suffering and to move towards feeling peace and joy again.
David works with clients both in-person in Blessington and also through online video call sessions, offering support for a wide range of issues, including relationship issues, work-related stress, general anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, depression, addiction, trauma, PTSD, loss & grief, illness, self esteem and core belief issues . His approach to counselling is person-centred and integrative, meaning he tailors therapy to the individual, considering their background, culture, and life experiences. This allows him to use the most effective methods for each individual client while working at a pace that suits them.
David also has a keen interest in mindfulness and recognises its value in developing self awareness and in managing anxiety and depression. He often incorporates mindfulness techniques into therapy, when appropriate, to further support clients in managing their issues. His goal is to help clients ease the burden of their suffering by providing them with the skills, tools, and learning necessary to be more self-supportive in order to enable them to live a more peaceful and fulfilling life.
