About Mr Christopher Mitchell
Mr Christopher Mitchell is an Orthopaedic Surgeon. Mr Mitchell specialises in treating conditions affecting the hip and knee. He uses data from the National Joint Registry to select high-performing implants for patients and makes a particular effort to ensure patients understand the treatment options available to them. After undergraduate training at Oxford University and University College London, Mr Mitchell qualified in 2006. His surgical training was completed in Wessex Deanery and included 16 months at Wellington Hospital, New Zealand. He was awarded the Sir Walter Mercer Gold Medal for outstanding performance in the FRCS Trauma and Orthopaedics examination in 2017. Before his appointment as a Consultant at University Hospital Southampton in 2020, he completed specialist fellowships in hip and knee surgery at University Hospital Southampton, major trauma and complex arthroplasty at the Royal London Hospital, and a travelling AO fellowship in Houston, Texas. As Orthopaedic Trauma Lead at University Hospital Southampton, he lectures both regionally and nationally and is involved in several ongoing research studies.
