About Mr Christopher Hillary
Mr Christopher Hillary is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, with a sub-specialist interest in complex kidney cancer surgery. He performs several major kidney operations each week while also maintaining a broad general urology practice. His expertise spans bladder cancer, benign prostate disease, bladder and kidney stone disease, functional urology, and basic andrology. After qualifying with an MBChB from the University of Leicester in 2009, Mr Hillary completed surgical training in the Midlands and South Yorkshire before undertaking a PhD at the University of Sheffield in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. Awarded in 2017, this research focused on stem cell therapies for urogenital reconstruction. He achieved FRCS(Urol) in 2019 and now serves as uro-oncology MDT chair at Chesterfield, clinical lead for kidney cancer, and educational supervisor for trainees. In private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital, Mr Hillary offers a wide range of treatments, including bladder investigations (cystoscopy), bladder lesion removal, prostate surgery (including laser procedures), vasectomy, hydrocele surgery, urodynamics, and procedures for stress urinary incontinence. He also performs cancer diagnostics and testing. Originally from Yorkshire, he now lives in Sheffield with his wife and two young daughters, and enjoys cycling and building projects in his spare time.
