Prof. Dr. med. Christianto B. Lumenta absolvierte sein Medizinstudium an der Universität Bonn und promovierte dort im Jahr 1976. Seine Facharztausbildung zum Neurochirurgen führte ihn an verschiedene Kliniken, darunter die Neurochirurgische Klinik in Duisburg, das Max-Planck-Institut für Hirnforschung in Köln und die Neurochirurgische Universitätsklinik Düsseldorf. 1983 erhielt er die Facharztanerkennung der Ärztekammer Nordrhein. Im Jahr 1985 habilitierte er sich an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf und ist Mitglied in zahlreichen Fachgesellschaften, darunter die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurochirurgie, die American Association of Neurological Surgeons und die Academia Eurosiana Neurochirurgica.
