His career in surgery began with a residency at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, followed by extensive training in cardiothoracic surgery at the Prince Charles Hospital and the Alfred Hospital. He was awarded Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery (FRACS) from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon and furthered his expertise through additional training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne.

Dr He's surgical practice encompasses all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery, with a specific focus on:


• Coronary artery bypass graft surgery; total arterial coronary revascularisation


• AF surgery and Left Atrial Appendage Management with AtriClip


• Valvular heart disease


• Minimally invasive lung surgery - including Robotic-assisted lung resection using the Da Vinci Xi system.

Actively involved in medical education, Dr He has contributed to  peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters on advanced surgical techniques in cardiac and thoracic surgery.   He is a senior lecturer at Griffith University Medical School and instructs surgical skills courses for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Currently, Dr He serves as a staff specialist cardiothoracic surgeon at Gold Coast University Hospital and holds operating privileges at Gold Coast Private Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital.
