About Miss Charlotte Defty
Miss Charlotte Defty is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon based in Liverpool, with over 15 years of experience in both the NHS and private sectors. She provides expert, patient-focused care across a wide range of procedures. Her practice includes facial skin cancer surgery (including Mohs), Laser treatments, blepharoplasty, botulinum toxin treatment. Miss Defty completed her medical degree at Liverpool University in 2004, followed by MRCS and FRCS(Plast) qualifications. She further specialised through fellowships in laser surgery in Swansea and Reconstructive Trauma Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Her expertise in Mohs surgery was developed through dedicated training at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, where she now serves as Mohs Lead and Laser Lead. As clinical lead for the laser department, she has significantly expanded this subspecialty, establishing services that offer carbon dioxide laser ablation and photodynamic therapy for basal cell carcinomas. She has introduced a wide range of scar treatments, including intra-lesional cryotherapy for keloid scars, 5-Fluorouracil injections, the use of vascular and ablative lasers. Sub-specialties include laser hair and tattoo removal, facial resurfacing, and vascular lesion treatment. Charlotte was also appointed service lead for the plastic surgery-led Mohs micrographic surgery team, collectively performing over 800 cases annually, with a particular expertise in eyelid reconstruction. Beyond her clinical duties, she has served as Training Programme Director for specialist trainees in plastic surgery within the Mersey Deanery for four years and has contributed actively to TIG fellowships in Mohs surgery.
