About Mr Chanpreet Arhi
Mr Chanpreet Arhi is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon working across Clementine Churchill Hospital and Bishops Wood Hospital, with an NHS practice at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He specialises in the management of gallstone disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux, and abdominal wall hernias, with a strong focus on minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgical techniques designed to support faster recovery and improved patient outcomes. Mr Arhi graduated from University College London in 2006 and completed higher surgical training in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, with posts at leading London centres including Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. Following completion of his FRCS, he was awarded a Royal College of Surgeons of England fellowship in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery, further consolidating his expertise in complex foregut and minimally invasive procedures. He also holds a PhD from Imperial College London, where his research focused on delays in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers. His surgical practice includes laparoscopic cholecystectomy, fundoplication, hiatal hernia repair, and both inguinal and abdominal wall hernia surgery, alongside diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He has also developed expertise in robotic-assisted surgery. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Arhi is active in research, medical education, and clinical governance. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented internationally, and contributes to the training of junior surgeons and medical students. He currently serves in a clinical governance leadership role within his NHS trust, with a focus on improving safety, efficiency, and outcomes in upper gastrointestinal surgery.
