Dr Neal first completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree in 2005, before going on to achieve his MBBS in 2007. He spent time training in neurology and epilepsy before embarking on a year-long epilepsy fellowship in France which enabled him to gain valuable experience in stereo-EEG and epilepsy surgery. He is now the lead for the stereo-EEG program at the Alfred Hospital and delivers teaching courses for junior neurologists locally and nationally.
Dr Neal has made significant contributions to epilepsy research, having first completed a PhD on tumour-associated epilepsy at the University of Melbourne. He is now a research fellow at Monash University and has had multiple papers published in esteemed medical journals.
