About Dr Amir Halim
Dr. Amir Halim is a Consultant in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and General Medicine, with a specialist interest in digestive diseases and obesity-related gastrointestinal disorders. He qualified from the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth in 2007 and completed an MSc in Gastroenterology at Queen Mary’s, University of London, achieving a distinction for his dissertation. He undertook specialist training across Sussex and South London and has been practising in Gastroenterology since 2013. Dr. Halim reviews patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, reflux, indigestion, and bloating. He manages chronic conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (including Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome, and liver diseases including fatty liver disease. He is a JAG-accredited endoscopist and regularly performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including upper GI endoscopy (gastroscopy) and lower GI endoscopy (colonoscopy). Dr. Halim holds a consultant position at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, where he provides outpatient care and endoscopy services. Additional roles include Educational Supervisor, RCP College Tutor, British Liver Trust Champion, and Principal Investigator in an ongoing national research study. Dr. Halim has received the Alistair McIntyre Prize from the British Society of Gastroenterology and the SCOPE certificate from the World Obesity Federation. He has also published multiple journal articles and presented his work at national and international meetings.
