The Royal Marsden Hospital is a centre of excellence renowned for cancer diagnosis and education. First established in 1851, the Royal Marsden was the first hospital in the world dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education. It is the largest and most comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 50,000 patients each year. Its unique relationship with the Institute of Cancer Research allows quick access to the most up-to-date treatments available. The specialist research centre based at the hospital has the largest drugs trial unit in Europe.
The Royal Marsden offers inpatient, day care and outpatient services for all cancers. Its dedicated staff are highly skilled, and training schemes are run for cancer nurses, oncologists, and GPs.
