Home Sleep – Seymour provides a Level 2 home-based sleep studies to assess and manage sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea. Interrupted sleep is common, and while brief awakenings of up to five times per hour are normal, waking more than 15 times per hour may affect daytime performance and long-term health.

Following a home sleep study, a detailed report is generated, outlining sleep patterns, disturbances, breathing obstructions, movements, and oxygen levels throughout the night. A qualified sleep physician reviews this data, diagnoses any sleep disorders, and provides clinical recommendations. Based on these results, treatment options can be arranged or recommended, allowing patients to begin therapy promptly or after consultation with the reporting physician.
Home Sleep testing identifies underlying causes of sleep disruption, including breathing irregularities, leg and jaw movements, and other sleep disorders. Key measures include the Arousal Index (number of awakenings per hour), the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) or Respiratory Disturbance Index (RDI) for breathing interruptions, and the Periodic Limb Movement Index (PLMI). Mild disruption is defined as waking 5–15 times per hour, while more than 15 awakenings per hour indicates a significant sleep problem requiring intervention.
