Key measures include the Arousal Index (number of awakenings per hour), the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) or Respiratory Disturbance Index (RDI) for breathing interruptions, and the Periodic Limb Movement Index (PLMI). Mild disruption is considered waking 5–15 times per hour, while more than 15 awakenings per hour indicates a significant sleep problem requiring intervention.
