Dr Miriam Dookhun
Psychology
About
Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while incorporating elements of psychodynamic and person-centred therapy where appropriate. She works collaboratively with clients, guiding them through their personal journeys to explore their unique experiences, alleviate distress, and empower them to achieve their goals. She is committed to tailoring therapy to the specific needs of each individual, creating a supportive environment for meaningful change.
Dr Dookhun holds a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Psychology. She is an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist and a British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist. In addition to her clinical work, she has a strong academic interest in attachment and loss. Her doctoral research explored the grief experiences of identical twins following the loss of a co-twin in older adulthood, reflecting her deep understanding of bereavement and its psychological impact.
At Nightingale Hospital, Dr Dookhun provides therapy for individuals struggling with mood disorders, panic attacks, phobias, and psychosexual difficulties. She integrates evidence-based well-being therapies to support clients in overcoming life’s challenges and developing resilience.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
