About
Her therapeutic work draws on a wide range of evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), cognitive analytic therapy (CAT), counselling, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), schema therapy, mentalisation-based therapy, DBT-E, prolonged exposure for trauma, CBT-E, and MANTRA. She prioritises equality, authenticity and collaboration in the therapeutic relationship, with a focus on attachment and behavioural development across the lifespan.
Dr Silver was trained in DBT by its developer, Dr Marsha Linehan, through Behavioral Tech in Seattle between 2013 and 2015. She has since led and developed DBT programmes across Melbourne and London, and received the APT Excellence in DBT award for her work. In her previous role at the Maudsley Hospital, she delivered DBT for adolescents and their families as part of the National and Specialist CAMHS DBT service. She also provided training and supervision across NHS and private services, contributing to the design and implementation of inpatient and outpatient DBT programmes.
Her wider experience includes leading specialist services for personality and eating disorders within NHS England, delivering therapy to individuals and families, and providing consultation and coaching focused on behavioural and personality psychology. She continues to support services in development, training, and supervision, maintaining an active role in service strategy and delivery in line with NICE guidelines.
Dr Silver is a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology with a specialisation in Clinical Health Psychology. She is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology, and a member of the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy.
Her clinical and research interests include emotionally unstable personality disorder, emotion dysregulation, behavioural dysregulation, attachment and interpersonal difficulties. She has contributed to unpublished research on parent DBT programmes and continues to develop clinical practices informed by her expertise in complex trauma and personality theory.
