Alaa Abuali

Alaa Abuali is a highly experienced mental health counsellor and psychotherapist with over 10 years in the field. She completed intensive, specialised training in New Jersey, USA, with a focus on families and couples, and then worked as a Psychology Practitioner at Rashid Hospital in Dubai, where she provided both inpatient and outpatient psychological support across diverse hospital wards including trauma, rehabilitation, HIV, psychiatry, burns, and emergency. Alaa further honed her skills as a counsellor at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology in Dubai, offering employee support on stress management, anxiety, healthy workplace communication, and relationship issues. For over three years, she worked at the Dubai Diabetes Center, part of the Dubai Health Authority, as a psychology practitioner, contributing to a dynamic team approach in patient care. Currently, Alaa leads her own mental health practice in London as a consultant counsellor and psychotherapist. She utilises an integrative approach rooted in humanistic therapy, complemented by systemic and trauma-focused counselling, mindfulness, and CBT techniques. Her collaborative style creates a safe, non-judgemental space that empowers clients to foster positive change, increase self-awareness, and improve their overall quality of life. Alaa has extensive experience working with adults facing challenges such as depression, adjustment issues, loss and grief, existential concerns, chronic illness, identity issues, anxiety, and family-related problems. She strongly believes in the transformative power of the therapeutic alliance and frequently incorporates family and couples counselling techniques into her practice to help clients harness the tools available for emotional healing and resilience.
