About Dr Robin Dart
Dr Robin Dart is a consultant gastroenterologist with a sub-specialty interest in IBD at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital. He graduated in medicine from Edinburgh University and completed post-graduate clinical training in Edinburgh and North East London. He undertook subspecialty IBD training as a research fellow at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital. Dr Dart has served as chair of the young-European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation committee and as a clinical expert for NICE. Dr Dart is active in IBD research and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and research group leader at King’s College London. He was awarded a PhD in immunology at King’s College London and the Francis Crick Institute and now runs a research group which seeks to understand how immune cells protect the gut in health and IBD, with the aim of improving patient outcome. His work has received national and international recognition, including the British Society of Gastroenterology Sir Francis Avery Jones Medal (2025), a Francis Crick Institute Scientific Achievement Award (2023) and a European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation Best Abstract Award (2019). Clinical and scientific pulications can be viewed at https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3470-8210 Dr Dart is a JAG-approved trainer in colonoscopy and gastroscopy with clinical expertise in general gastroenterology, endoscopy and diagnosing and managing inflammatory bowel disease.
