Zak Latif is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with extensive experience across the full spectrum of urological conditions. He attended The Glasgow Academy before completing his undergraduate medical education at Cambridge University Medical School, where he studied for five years and was awarded an MA along with his MB and BChir degrees.
Following his return to Glasgow, Mr Latif undertook both basic and higher surgical training in the West of Scotland. During this period, he developed a strong academic interest in urological oncology and was awarded an MD in 2002 for his research into bladder cancer genetics, with a particular focus on HER-2.
Mr Latif was appointed as a Consultant Urologist in 2007 within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. His NHS practice encompasses all aspects of urology, including the diagnosis and management of cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidney and testis, alongside a wide range of benign urological conditions.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Latif plays a significant role in medical education and training. He currently serves as the Training Programme Director for Urology in the West of Scotland, where he is responsible for overseeing and supporting the development of urology trainees across the region. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
