About Mr Thomas Roe

Mr Roe has been a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon in Gloucestershire since 2016 having previously served as a Locum Consultant at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. His NHS practice involves clinical sessions at both Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal, primarily managing pathology of the small and large intestine and the rectum. He offers a private service at Ramsay Winfield Hospital in Gloucester and the Cheltenham Nuffield Hospital. Having sub-specialised in Colorectal Surgery, Mr Roe has a particular interest in pelvic floor pathology. He runs an additional service in General Surgery, managing hernias and various "lumps and bumps" of the skin. He is also trained in paediatric surgery and runs an NHS service dealing with paediatric hernias and other general surgery of childhood, although that does not form part of his private practice. Mr Roe studied medicine at Cambridge University. He undertook basic surgical training in London and Southampton, followed by an advanced training rotation at hospitals in and around Bristol. During his training Mr Roe spent 2 years engaged in scientific research at the CRUK facility at Birmingham University, leading to the award of his MD. He has presented the results of that, and other work, at scientific meetings across Europe and in the USA. Outside work Mr Roe is the proud father of 2 young children and a sausage dog. He is keen on all aspects of sport and fitness and still manages to run out with a local rugby team a few times a year.
