About Mr Samuel Heaton
Mr Samuel Heaton is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in hip and knee Surgery at Sulis Hospital Bath, with a particular interest in young adult hip surgery and knee surgery using minimally invasive techniques as well as in trauma surgery, including major trauma and fragility fractures. Mr Heaton obtained his medical degree from King's College London in 2005. He pursued his orthopaedic training on the esteemed Royal London Hospital rotation, which encompassed valuable experience at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. During this time, he also pursued a master's degree in engineering at Cardiff University, showcasing his commitment to a multidisciplinary approach in his field. His dedication and expertise were duly recognised, and he was entered onto the specialist register in 2015. In pursuit of further specialisation, Mr Heaton completed a one-year arthroplasty and trauma fellowship at the renowned Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. Building on this experience, he embarked on a specialist hip surgery fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, where he gained comprehensive knowledge and expertise in all aspects of hip surgery. Additionally, in 2017, he was the visiting fellow at R. Cowley Shock Trauma Hospital in Baltimore, USA, focusing on major trauma cases. Mr Heaton's contributions to the field have been recognised through national and international presentations, earning him accolades such as the AO Asia Pacific young investigator of the year for his work presented in Cheng Du, China. His dedication to advancing knowledge is further evident through his published papers. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Heaton holds an honorary senior lecturer position at Bristol University, where he shares his expertise and contributes to the education of future surgeons. He is also actively involved in teaching trainee surgeons, both locally and on national courses, ensuring the next generation receives the necessary guidance and skills to excel in the field.
