About Mr Rhodri Codd
Mr Rhodri Codd is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon who practises at a number of locations including St Joseph's Hospital, Royal Gwent Hospital, Grange University Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital. He specialises in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, colonoscopy (including polypectomy), hernia surgery, colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and proctology. He is also the Lead Clinician for Colorectal Surgery for Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Procedures performed include: • Hernia repair: inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, paraumbilical hernia, parastomal hernia, epigastric hernia, incisional hernia, Spigelian hernia • Colonoscopy • Endoscopy (OGD) • Sigmoidoscopy • Polypectomy • Bowel resection • Colonic resection • Rectal resection • Haemorrhoid surgery • Anal fissure surgery • Anal fistula surgery • Proctology Mr Codd is currently the only surgeon at St Joseph's Hospital (https://www.stjosephshospital.co.uk/consultants/mr-rhodri-codd/) to offer trans-anal haemorrhoidal dearterialisation (THD) (https://www.thdlab.co.uk) for the treatment of haemorrhoids (piles). This is a less painful method for the treatment of most grades of haemorrhoids. He also offers treatment for conditions including anal fissure, fistula, groin pain, pelvic floor disorders, rectal bleeding, lipomas, cysts and removal of lumps and bumps. Mr Codd qualified in 2002, before completing a master's degree in medical education. After completing higher training in general and colorectal surgery, Mr Codd then undertook a fellowship training programme in laparoscopic colorectal surgery in Leeds. This enabled him to develop his expertise in laparoscopic colorectal surgery as well as complex pelvic oncology surgery, complex proctology, and inflammatory bowel disease. He was also awarded an advanced pelvic oncology fellowship in Swansea and a travelling fellowship which was based at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
