Mr Paul Baguley is a Consultant Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeon, with particular interests in Aesthetic and Post-Cancer Reconstructive Breast Surgery, Skin Cancer (Melanoma) and Hand Surgery. He attended the Manchester Medical School, graduating in 1984 and achieving degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He then moved to Canada where he attended the University of British Columbia, achieving Royal College of Physician Standing in Paediatrics and General Medicine, completing further training at McMaster University, Canada in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery.
Mr Baguley also achieved further Royal College Standing in General Surgery and Royal College Certification in Plastic Surgery, placing him in a unique group of specialists with Medical and Surgical Fellowships. He was a Fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and a Fellow at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
In 1994, Mr Baguley was appointed a Consultants post on Prince Edward Island, Canada before returning to Great Britain, where he was a Fellow in Hand Surgery at St James Hospital, Leeds and then a Senior Registrar in Hull.
In September 1998, after passing the Royal College of Surgery exam, achieving a Specialist Certificate in Plastic Surgery, Mr Baguley became a fully accredited Plastic Surgeon on the Specialist Register at the General Medical Council.
Mr Baguley has a special interest in governance and training of surgeons and currently acts as an Examiner at MRCS level in General Surgery and Anatomy, for the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He is on the panel for accreditation and development of MRCS OSCE questions at the Royal College of Surgeons in England and is a full accredited member of BAPRAS, BAAPS AND UKAAPS.
Mr Baguley is one of the leading surgeons in the country, and is the Director of Define Cosmetic Surgery, which has been practising in the North Yorkshire and County Durham regions for the last ten years. He is also Director of Step Into Practice, a company that specialises in assisting Doctors, Surgeons and Dentists move into private practice, through a system of organised steps and processes.
Mr Baguley has written numerous publications, including an article on the temporary ectopic transplantation of digits, which was published in the Journal of Hand Surgery in 1998 and is currently researching hormonal influences in Malignant Melanoma.
