After qualifying from Cambridge University I completed by Basis Surgical Training on the Oxford rotation. I subsequently obtained my Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Royal Free Hospital, University of London, before commencing my Higher Urology Training in London. I also had the opportunity to expand my clinical and research knowledge by working 2 years as a Senior Fellow at the Brady Urological Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA. In my first year I undertook prostate cancer research and obtained my Master of Surgery (MS) degree also from the University of London.
After completing my training in London, I was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester in April 2006 sub-specialising in stone surgery and laser prostatectomy. I have been the Head of Service for Urology from August 2009 till April 2015.
I am very interested in research, particularly prostate cancer diagnosis. This has led to collaborative work with Nottingham Trent University. Accordingly, I was appointed a Visiting Professor to Nottingham Trent University in March 2012. In addition, I am an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Leicester.
My clinical interests include the management of male lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) particularly in men, stone disease and prostate cancer.
I like to spend my leisure time watching rugby union (Leicester Tigers) and football (Manchester United) with my family.
