About Mr George Pavlou

Mr. George Pavlou is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in knee surgery. He is also an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor in Orthopaedics.  He also has been awarded a National Clinical Impact award by the government which recognises clinicians who have delivered outstanding care, high quality services, medical education, training and research.At Euxton Hall and Renacres hospitals he treats patients with cartilage damage and arthritis of the knee and his main clinical interest is knee replacement surgery. In addition, Mr Pavlou also works at Wrightington Hospital (an orthopaedic centre of excellence) where, over the last decade he helped to develop the Knee Department and receives patient referrals from across the country. George is one of the regional surgical leads for revision knee replacement surgery in the United Kingdom and is a member of both the British Association of the Knee and revision knee working groups helping to steer best practice nationally. George is an excellent teacher & trainer. He is the Fellowship Directors for knee surgery at Wrightington Hospital and has gone on to train many consultants both nationally and internationally over the last decade. In addition, he teaches other consultant surgeons on courses on how to perform knee replacement, robotic knee replacement and revision surgery.  Mr Pavlou has an active research interest and has published numerous articles in peer reviewed international journals and book chapters on knee surgery.  George graduated from University of Leicester Medical School in 2001.  He then went on to train as an orthopaedic surgeon at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Oswestry.  Following this he completed specialist fellowship training in complex knee surgery at the Princess Elizabeth Knee Reconstruction unit in Exeter. George was appointed as a consultant knee surgeon at Wrightington hospital in 2013.  In 2012 George was awarded the British Orthopaedic Association/European Federation National Associations of Orthopaedics travelling fellowship, where he visited and learned from other centres of excellence around the worlds including Marseille, Nice and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.  He is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Association for Surgery of the Knee, BAJIS, MRC revision knee group and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.  Owing to his expertise in complex knee replacement surgery Mr Pavlou will accept second opinion referrals for problematic joint replacements patients or for patients who have had complications from previous knee replacement surgery.
