Mr David Clark is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who has practised in Derby for more than 22 years. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of all upper‑limb conditions and has extensive expertise in both elective upper‑limb surgery and general trauma care.

Mr Clark treats the full spectrum of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand disorders, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability and dislocation, clavicle and proximal humerus fractures, AC joint dislocation, shoulder arthritis, elbow fractures and dislocations, tennis elbow, elbow osteoarthritis, and nerve compression conditions such as cubital and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Training, Roles and Leadership

Mr Clark has been a Consultant at the Royal Derby Hospital since 2001 and currently serves as the Lead Clinician for Trauma and Orthopaedics. His specialist interest lies in complex upper‑limb surgery, supported by a substantive commitment to trauma care.

He has held several notable national leadership roles within orthopaedics, including:


• Trustee of the British Orthopaedic Association Council


• Chairman of the British Orthopaedic Directors Society (2012–2014)


• Secretary Elect of the British Elbow & Shoulder Society (BESS)


• Member of BESS Council for the past seven years
