Mr Conal Quah is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in lower limb arthroplasty. His NHS practice is based at Royal Derby Hospital, where he also offers private consultations through Derby Private Health, the hospital’s dedicated private patient unit. He is experienced in performing total hip and knee replacements, as well as complex revision procedures, and has particular expertise in managing periprosthetic fractures, bone loss, and joint infections. He also carries out arthroscopic knee surgery and supports enhanced recovery approaches to help patients regain mobility more quickly and safely.
Mr Quah completed his medical degree at the University of Dundee before undertaking his surgical training in the North East and East Midlands. He then pursued further specialist training through national and international fellowships, gaining wide-ranging experience in advanced joint reconstruction techniques. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Quah has a strong commitment to teaching and research. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, co-founded a surgical journal for trainees, and regularly presents at conferences in the UK and abroad. He teaches medical students, junior doctors and allied health professionals, and is a faculty member on several national and international surgical courses.
