About Mark Farrell
Mark Farrell is a Physiotherapist at ESP Physio with over a decade of experience in football science and sports performance. He has held senior roles across Academy, Club, International, and Federation levels, developing extensive expertise in supporting footballers from youth development through to the adult game. His background in high-performance environments enables him to deliver comprehensive injury management, rehabilitation, and return-to-play strategies tailored to the demands of elite sport. In addition to football, Mark has worked with athletes across a wide range of sports, including swimming, athletics, badminton, hockey, gymnastics, sailing, triathlon, and cricket. This breadth of experience has strengthened his understanding of sport-specific demands and performance preparation. Mark holds a BSc in Sports Coaching from the University of the West of Scotland and an MPhil in Strength and Conditioning and Injury Prevention. As well as this he holds Master’s degrees in both Physiotherapy and Sports Science. His academic background underpins his evidence-based approach to treatment and performance enhancement. Alongside clinical practice, Mark works as a consultant in injury prevention strategies and has lectured at the University of the West of Scotland, sharing his expertise with the next generation of practitioners.
