He earned his M.B.B.CH from the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Azhar University in 1994, followed by a Master’s in Neurology & Psychiatry in 1999 and a Doctorate in Psychiatry in 2004, both from the same institution.
Dr. Abuhegazy's career highlights include serving as a Professor of Psychiatry and Head of the Research Committee in the Department of Psychiatry at Al-Azhar University since 2023. He is also the founder and chief of the Mind Zone Psychiatry Center in Cairo, established in 2021, which focuses on providing comprehensive mental health care. In addition, he has played a pivotal role in the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer, where he has been the Head of the Mental Health Department since 2022, ensuring mental health support for patients battling cancer.
Dr. Abuhegazy's extensive professional experience includes working as a Psychiatry Consultant at Al-Helal Hospital in Cairo from 2005 to 2007, as well as serving as a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Saudi Arabian Airlines Medical Services from 2007 to 2012. From 2013 to 2021, he was a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Armed Forces Hospital in the Southern Region of Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia.
