About Dr Bernadette van den Hout

Dr Bernadette Van Den Hout is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is currently working in the Young People's Services at the Priory Hospital. She offers mental health treatments for adults including depression, anxiety, stress and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) and the treatments for adolescents include stress, depression, anxiety and eating disorders. Dr Van Den Hout qualified in Medicine from the University of Amsterdam in 1984, before undertaking a Master's degree in Medicine in 1989. A year later she decided to take a gap year and worked at the Brain Institute in Amsterdam. She began working as a locum Consultant in 2004 for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service in Worthing, before being appointed full-time Consultant for CAMHS in Chichester. She then started working part-time as an inpatient consultant at the Priory Hospital in Roehampton within the Adolescent Unit, which has developed to a full-time role.
