About Prof Gavin Davis
Professor Gavin Davis MBBS, FRACS, IFAANS is a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Melbourne with over 20 years experience in neurosurgery. Professor Davis completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, and completed Fellowship in Neurosurgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons; followed by postgraduate fellowships, including a Fellowship in Peripheral Nerve Surgery in New Orleans, USA and a Neurosurgery Training Fellowship at Queen's Medical Centre in the UK. Recognised internationally, Professor Davis has expertise in the surgical management and treatment of a broad range of neurosurgical conditions, including: brain tumours, cerebral aneurysms, spinal disc disease (cervical and lumbar), sports-related concussion, hydrocephalus, nerve tumours, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve pathology, peripheral nerve entrapments and thoracic outlet syndrome. Professor Davis is actively involved with clinical research and currently holds university appointments at University of Notre Dame Australia and Monash University, in addition to a research position at Murdoch Children's Research Institute. He has research interests in ulnar neuropathy, peripheral nerve tumours, sports-related concussion and lumbar spinal canal stenosis surgery. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers in national and international journals and has co-authored numerous book chapters. Professor Davis was recognised as a top Australian Researcher by the Australian newspaper in the Australian Research 2020 magazine.
