Dr Mitchell Hansen is an Australian-trained Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgeon. Dr Hansen's practice welcomes patients in need of neurosurgical expertise. As a testament to their commitment to advancing the field, Dr Hansen actively participates in multidisciplinary cancer care teams, coordinating care for individuals with brain or spinal cord cancer. Beyond their surgical expertise, Dr Hansen is a respected figure in the medical community. They hold the position of Director of Neurosurgical Training at John Hunter Hospital and serve as the Director of the AO Spine Centre at the same institution. Their influence extends nationally and internationally, with active roles in prestigious organisations. Dr Hansen is the Vice-President and a Director of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, a board member of the SET Board for Neurosurgery for the Royal College of Surgeons, and Chairman and Fellowship Coordinator for AO Spine Australia and New Zealand. They are also a sought-after speaker and educator, regularly delivering presentations and training to fellow surgeons both domestically and internationally. Dr Hansen's dedication to research is evident through their Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine from the University of Sydney and numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of their academic achievements, Dr Hansen was appointed Conjoint Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle in 2020.
