Dr Tuck-Kay Loke is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with specialist expertise in lung cancer and advanced bronchoscopy techniques. He completed his undergraduate medical training at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London, and qualified with the degree of MBBS in 1995. Following his general medical training, he became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 1999. He went on to undertake specialist training in Respiratory Medicine at several leading institutions, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, St George’s Hospital, and the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Supported by a fellowship from the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals Charitable Foundation, Dr Loke pursued academic research at the Medical Research Council and Asthma UK Centre, based at Guy’s Hospital. His work focused on the pathogenesis of steroid-resistant asthma and culminated in the award of a doctoral thesis (MD) from King’s College London in 2006.
Dr Loke held a substantive consultant position at Croydon University Hospital (formerly Mayday) from 2007 before recently joining Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. During his time at Croydon, he held a number of leadership roles including Chair of the Trust Cancer Board, Chair of the Medicines Management Committee, and Clinical Lead for the Cardiorespiratory Directorate.
He has a specialist interest in the early diagnosis of lung cancer and is an experienced bronchoscopist and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) operator. He has contributed significantly to clinical research in respiratory medicine, acting as the local Principal Investigator for multiple National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)-accredited studies related to lung cancer. He currently serves as Chair of the Lung Tumour Site Specific Group at the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance.
Dr Loke is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an active member of the British Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society.
