About Dr Jason Dunn

Dr Jason Dunn, Consultant Gastroenterologist, is based in London working within the Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and privately within the London Bridge Hospital and One Welbeck. He is highly specialised in Oesophageal diseases including GERD, LPR, EoE, Achalasia and Barrett's oesophagus. He is one of few specialists in the UK that practice therapeutic endoscopy in the oesophagus, including POEM for acahalsia, Esoflip/Endoflip,  HALO Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) (for Barrett's oesophagus and also inlet patch) and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) throughout the GI tract for polyps and early cancer. Other skills include general gastroenterology, nutrition (including PEG tube insertion), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Colonic polyps, weight loss and SIBO.  Dr Dunn has an extensive research interest with over 200 research publications in high-impact medical journals and several book chapters, with 1850 citations. He was awarded the CRUK clinical fellowship at UCL examining the use of optical diagnostics and minimally invasive therapies for the treatment of Barrett's oesophagus. He was later awarded a PhD for this work. His continued work in the field of Barrett's oesophagus, and biomarkers to predict cancer progression has won him several awards. He continues to contribute back to medical education by holding the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at Kings College London and previously at Oslo University. Dr Dunn has had a very successful career in which he has established a regional Endo-therapy centre at St Thomas for the South East region, written guidelines for the management of Barrett's oesophagus, and been Clinical Lead for Endoscopy at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. Additionally, he was the Research Lead for the Oesophageal Section of the British Society of Gastroenterology and remians on this committee. He is the medical advisor to the charity- Action against Heartburn.
