About
Career: Professor Behr earned his primary medical qualifications with distinction at St John’s College, University of Cambridge and Guy’s Hospital, London, after which he undertook his advanced cardiology training at St George's where he was appointed Consultant in 2007.
He runs an internationally recognised clinic for patients with genetic heart diseases and sudden death. He previously served as founding member and the President of the Association for Inherited Cardiac Conditions (now BICCS) and established and led the European Cardiac Arrhythmia Genetics Committee for the European Heart Rhythm Association.
He leads national initiatives for improved patient care such as the NHS and Coronial Sudden Unexpected Death pilot programme. He was named Hero of the Year 2023 by the British Heart Foundation.
Research: Professor Behr is also an active member of the scientific and clinical research community, having authored over 350 research papers for renowned cardiology journals, in addition to raising over £15 million of research funding.
He is Executive Editor for the journal Europace, an editorial board member for the Heart Rhythm Journal and has written most recent international guidelines for sudden death, arrhythmia treatment and cardiac arrest as well as genetic testing.
Professor Behr is also well known for his work as part of the UK 100,000 Genomes Project and in developing research collaborations such as the UK-wide Rare Arrhythmia Syndrome Evaluation (RASE) consortium.

Please contact Professor Behr's office for consultation fees as these may vary according to clinic site, complexity and need. He allocates between 40-60 minutes for new patients and 20-40 minutes for follow-ups to ensure that patients never feel rushed and a holistic approach is always taken.
