He previously served as founding member and the President of the Association for Inherited Cardiac Conditions (now BICCS) and established and led the European Cardiac Arrhythmia Genetics Committee for the European Heart Rhythm Association.
He leads national initiatives for improved patient care such as the NHS and Coronial Sudden Unexpected Death pilot programme. He was named Hero of the Year 2023 by the British Heart Foundation.
Research: Professor Behr is also an active member of the scientific and clinical research community, having authored over 350 research papers for renowned cardiology journals, in addition to raising over £15 million of research funding.
He is Executive Editor for the journal Europace, an editorial board member for the Heart Rhythm Journal and has written most recent international guidelines for sudden death, arrhythmia treatment and cardiac arrest as well as genetic testing.
Professor Behr is also well known for his work as part of the UK 100,000 Genomes Project and in developing research collaborations such as the UK-wide Rare Arrhythmia Syndrome Evaluation (RASE) consortium.
