Dr Aigul Baltabaeva is a Consultant Cardiologist at Harefield Hospital, where she treats both private and NHS patients. She specialises in a range of cardiac imaging, from echocardiography to cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR).
Dr Aigul Baltabaeva earned her medical degree from Kyrgyz State Medical School and her PhD at the National Centre of Cardiology, Kyrgyzstan, which focused on the incidence of arrhythmias in hypertensive heart disease and the effect of antihypertensive treatment on the recurrence of atrial fibrillation. This research lead to an expert interest in mitral valve disease and mitral regurgitation in acute heart failure.
She leads a number of research projects into heart failure and she won a prestigious international research award in 2002, prompting a move to London.
