About Prof Andy Yong
Dr. Andy Yong is a general and interventional cardiologist. As the Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Concord Hospital and a Staff Specialist, Dr. Yong oversees the delivery of advanced cardiac care services. His role extends to academia, where he serves as a Clinical Professor at Macquarie University and an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. Dr. Yong's commitment to education is reflected in his mentorship of students and his involvement in academic committees. Dr. Yong's journey to becoming a leader in cardiology includes a prestigious postdoctoral and clinical interventional cardiology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Centre. During this time, he honed his skills in coronary intervention and advanced cardiac procedures. Dr. Yong's research interests are focused on coronary physiology and intervention, areas in which he has made significant contributions. His pursuit of knowledge led to the completion of a PhD degree at the University of Sydney, funded by an NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship. Dr. Yong's clinical interests involve interventional cardiology, coronary heart disease, structural heart disease, and preventive cardiology. He is known for his compassionate and ethical approach to patient care, prioritising the well-being of his patients above all else. As a sought-after speaker, Dr. Yong regularly speaks at national and international cardiology conferences, further contributing to the advancement of the field.
