About Mr Alexandru Budu
Mr. Alexandru Budu is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with a specialist focus on complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Practising since 2015 and specialising in neurosurgery in 2020, he brings extensive clinical experience having trained at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and completed the prestigious Complex Spinal Fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. Mr. Budu provides expert care for a wide range of spinal conditions including degenerative disease, trauma, infections, spinal tumours, dysraphism, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) disorders. His approach is rooted in precision, safety, and minimising recovery times, tailoring each treatment to the individual needs of his patients. Alongside his clinical role, Mr. Budu is actively involved in academic neurosurgery. He serves as Research and Audit Lead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and contributes to national surgical education through his role on the FRCS (Neurosurgery) Question Writing Committee. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in minimally invasive spinal techniques and cervical myelopathy. Mr. Budu is dual-certified in neurosurgery in both the UK and Romania and holds memberships with several international professional bodies, including the Society of British Neurological Surgeons , AO Spine, (Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Osteosynthesefragen) Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
