Dr Alexandros Toskas is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a subspecialist focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), offering expert care in the diagnosis and management of complex gastrointestinal conditions. He completed his medical degree (MD) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2011, and later pursued a PhD in Gastroenterology at the same institution, awarded in 2023. His doctoral research explored cytokine expression in the intestinal mucosa of patients with IBD, reflecting his strong academic interest in disease mechanisms.
Following his early training, Dr Toskas undertook specialist gastroenterology training in the UK, where he further developed his clinical expertise. He completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, gaining extensive experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He is JAG-accredited in colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and holds Fellowship of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (FEBGH).
Dr Toskas is actively involved in research and has published widely in the field of gastroenterology. He has presented his work at leading international conferences, including ECCO, ESGE, and UEG, and has contributed to multicentre studies focusing on perianal Crohn’s disease and emerging IBD therapies.
