Orthopaedic Surgery
About
Mr Riddell began his medical training at the University of Cambridge before completing his clinical education at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School. His postgraduate training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery was undertaken across several centres in London, Bath and Wales, providing broad exposure to elective and trauma orthopaedics. He was awarded a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and holds MRCS and FRCS (Tr & Orth) qualifications.
He completed a specialist fellowship in knee surgery in Sydney, Australia, where he trained under Professor Leo Pinczewski, gaining advanced experience in contemporary arthroscopic knee techniques and joint preservation procedures. Mr Riddell was appointed as a consultant at the Royal United Hospital in Bath in June 2020.
His clinical practice focuses on knee arthroscopy, articular cartilage surgery, and the investigation and management of knee pain. He also performs primary knee replacement surgery, including patellofemoral (kneecap) joint replacement where indicated. Mr Riddell’s work encompasses both non-operative assessment and surgical treatment, with care guided by current evidence and individual clinical presentation.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
