About

Dr. Akshay Kamra graduated from the University of New South Wales with a degree in medicine in 2009. He began his medical career as a junior doctor at Bankstown/Campbelltown Hospitals. His dedication and clinical acumen led him to be accepted into the Australian Orthopaedic Training scheme, resulting in him being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in January 2020.

Driven by a desire to further refine his skills and expertise, Dr. Kamra pursued specialised training in Trauma, Pelvic, and Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Reconstructive Surgery. He completed a prestigious fellowship at two level 1 trauma centres, St George and Westmead Hospitals, where he honed his abilities in primary and revision surgery of the hip and knee, as well as knee cartilage, meniscal, and ligament surgery. He also gained proficiency in the use of computer navigation and robotic surgery for both hip and knee procedures.

Later, Dr. Kamra embarked on a knee surgery fellowship at the renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals in the UK. During this, he furthered his expertise in primary and revision knee surgery, partial knee replacement, sports knee surgery, and the management of bone and prosthetic joint infections.

Throughout his medical career, Dr. Kamra has remained committed to research and evidence-based medicine. He has presented his findings at numerous local and international medical conferences, contributing to the advancement of orthopaedic knowledge. Additionally, he has been actively involved in mentoring and examining medical students from the University of New South Wales.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
