In 2012, he gained his FRCS in general surgery and Fellowship of the European Board in General Surgery.

In addition, he is an expert in endoscopy and is accredited by JAG for both upper and lower GI procedures. Mr Hussain has also published over 160 research papers in well-respected journals, and he sits on the editorial board for the British Journal of Surgical Science.

He speaks both English and Arabic.
