Dr. Aatif Hassan Shaikh is a highly respected Consultant Urologist at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital in Abu Dhabi, with over 23 years of extensive clinical and surgical experience. Since 2014, he has been committed to providing expert urological care to the Abu Dhabi community, offering comprehensive management of a wide range of urological conditions in both male and female patients.
Dr. Shaikh has particular expertise in the treatment of renal stone disease, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, and disorders of the prostate and testicles, including prostate and bladder cancers. He is also a recognized authority in men's health, andrology, erectile dysfunction, and male infertility. His clinical practice is distinguished by advanced skills in minimally invasive, incision-free endourological procedures. These include modern approaches to the treatment of benign prostatic enlargement such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), laser vaporization, Rezum therapy, UroLift, and ITIND. He is also highly experienced in the endoscopic management of bladder tumors (TURBT) and the treatment of kidney, ureter, bladder, and urethral stones through procedures such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), ureteroscopy, retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS), and cystolitholapaxy. Dr. Shaikh offers non-surgical laser treatment of renal stones using extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), providing patients with safe and effective alternatives to conventional surgery.
He also provides advanced care for urethral stricture disease through endourological procedures such as optical internal urethrotomy (OIU) and Optilume balloon dilatation. Dr. Shaikh takes a special interest in male sexual health and is proficient in the latest therapies for erectile dysfunction, including penile shockwave therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. He manages conditions such as loss of libido with testosterone replacement therapy, and premature ejaculation with innovative treatments including PRP and dermal fillers. In addition, he performs cosmetic and enhancement procedures such as penile augmentation with fillers, suprapubic fat lipolysis, and genital whitening therapies.
Dr. Shaikh regularly performs a wide range of diagnostic procedures essential for accurate assessment and management, including ultrasound, uroflowmetry, transrectal and transperineal prostate and testicular biopsies, urodynamic studies, cystoscopy, and urethrography. He is also experienced in managing complex urological complications associated with other medical or surgical conditions.
Prior to joining Mediclinic, Dr. Shaikh served as an Assistant Professor and Consultant Urologist at several leading medical institutions in Pakistan, where he gained significant academic and clinical experience. He has authored multiple medical papers and case reports published in peer-reviewed journals, and continues to contribute to academic forums, professional conferences, and community awareness programs in the field of urology.
Dr. Shaikh earned his MBBS degree from Dow Medical College in Pakistan, followed by double postgraduate fellowships (FCPS) in General Surgery and Urology. He is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MRCSI) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (MRCS), and holds additional fellowships in Endourology and Minimal Access Surgery. He is the General Secretary of the Pakistan Urology Association – Middle East Chapter, and an active member of the Pakistan Association of Urological Surgeons, the International Endourological Society, and the Pakistan Medical Association.
