About

Mr Farhan Rashid is a Consultant Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon currently seeing private patients at The Cobham Clinic, One Hatfield Hospital and Spire Harpenden Hospital. He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London.

Mr Rashid completed his medical degree at Nishtar Medical College, Pakistan in 1999, followed by his Basic Surgical Training in the East Midlands. He then completed a two-year research project at The University of Nottingham and was awarded his DM degree from the university in 2012. Subsequently, he completed his higher surgical training at the East of England Deanery.

Mr Rashid later acquired comprehensive training at five regional oesophageal and gastric cancer units, including Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, and two regional bariatric units in the UK. Following his training, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and received his certificate of completion of training (CCT). In 2016, Mr Rashid was appointed as a consultant at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.

Mr Rashid has specialist expertise in benign and malignant upper GI surgery (both open and laparoscopic), hernia surgery (open/laparoscopic), and obesity surgery. In his current clinical practice, he conducts open and laparoscopic surgeries for various benign upper GI conditions such as anti-reflux, hiatus hernia, and paraoesophageal hernia. Additionally, he specialises in gallbladder surgery and other gastrointestinal procedures.

Mr Rashid undertakes all oesophageal and gastric cancer operations at The Regional Centre at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College, London. Furthermore, he provides a comprehensive range of general and bariatric surgery services at The Regional Bariatric Unit at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.
