About
Dr Patwinder Gill, also known as Winnie, is a Bariatric and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon with specialist expertise in minimally invasive surgery. She obtained her medical degree from Monash University in 2008 and completed her surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she developed a strong interest in Upper GI and Hepatobiliary surgery.
Following completion of her surgical training, Dr Gill undertook a one-year fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. This experience strengthened her ability to manage complex surgical patients and further advanced her skills in minimally invasive techniques.
Dr Gill then completed a second fellowship year in Minimally Invasive Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery at Tweed Heads Hospital and John Flynn Hospital, working alongside leading surgeons. During this time, she refined her expertise in laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair, laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia repair, and began formal training in bariatric surgery.
Dr Gill completed her third fellowship year in Bariatric Surgery at Box Hill Hospital, a high-volume, specialised centre. There, she further honed her skills in minimally invasive bariatric procedures, including revision bariatric surgery.
Her clinical interests focus on bariatric surgery, with experience in:
Sleeve gastrectomy
Gastric bypass surgery
Single anastomosis duodenal ileostomy (SADI/SIPS)
In addition, she performs a range of minimally invasive general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia repairs, cholecystectomy (gallbladder surgery), hiatal hernia repair and small bowel resections.
