About Mr Ankur Shah

Mr Ankur Shah is a highly experienced and skilled Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) surgery. He began his medical journey qualifying in 1997, and completed basic surgical training at the prestigious University of Mumbai in 2001. In 2002, he moved to the UK to pursue advanced training in general, liver, pancreas, gallbladder surgery, and liver transplants. This training period lasted until 2009, during which he conducted advanced research on liver cancers in collaboration with the University of Bristol. After returning to India in 2010, Mr Shah worked as a Consultant General, HPB, and liver transplant surgeon, eventually progressing to the position of Senior Consultant until 2018. In 2018, he returned to the UK and has been working as a Consultant General and Upper GI Surgeon with a special interest in Benign HPB surgery. He initially worked in London and later moved to East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specifically the William Harvey Hospital, in April 2019. Throughout his career, Mr Shah has made significant contributions to the field of surgery, with more than 20 published papers and over 100 presentations at national and international levels. He has received awards for his outstanding contributions in the field. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Shah holds the position of Honorary Academic at the University of Kent and serves as an examiner with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr Ankur Shah's clinical interests encompass a wide range of procedures, including gallstones (Cholecystectomy), Bile Duct Exploration, various types of hernia repair (groin, umbilical, and ventral), laparoscopic surgery, and the management of benign diseases of the Liver, Gallbladder, and Pancreas. His expertise and commitment to surgical excellence make him a highly respected and valued member of the medical community.
