Ms Wai Siene Ng is a highly experienced consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in cataract and glaucoma, with additional expertise in minimally invasive glaucoma device implantation, trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device tubes, and revision glaucoma surgery. She works at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, a tertiary referral hospital and Cardiff University.

Ms Ng completed her medical training at Aberdeen University, where she published several papers on angle closure glaucoma and was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine Essay prize and the SOC Pfizer travel grant. She secured the highly competitive post of Welsh Clinical Academic Trainee to complete her specialist training in Ophthalmology and was awarded The Royal College of Ophthalmologist Bayer Educational Grant to attain a PhD in Stem Cell Mediated Retinal Repair: Models and Mechanisms at Cardiff University.

She completed an 18-month fellowship in surgical glaucoma at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she trained in managing complex glaucoma and implanting novel surgical devices. Currently she is an honorary senior lecturer at Cardiff University and her research interests include glaucoma surgical adjunct therapies such as anti VEGF wound modulation, angle closure glaucoma, neuroprotection and normotension glaucoma.

Ms Ng is a deputy senior examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Ophthalmology lead for Cardiff University School of Medicine.  She is also a member of the European Glaucoma Society, the World Glaucoma Association, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

In her spare time she enjoys regular volunteer work for Festival Medical Services at Glastonbury and is a national visual impairment classifier for the Paralympics and the FA.
