About Mr Murthy Kusuma
Mr Murthy Kusuma is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist and Robotic Surgeon at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s highest-volume centres for robotic prostatectomy. He has been involved in over 1,000 robotic procedures, including more than 500 robotic prostatectomies, and specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate and bladder cancer. He has particular expertise in day-case prostatectomy, nerve-sparing prostatectomy, and Retzius-sparing prostatectomy, alongside advanced robotic bladder cancer surgery and reconstructive urology. He is one of the lead robotic surgeons for the Supra-regional Bladder Cancer Network, providing specialist care for patients across the South East of England. Patients value his calm, approachable manner, clear explanations, and focus on personalised, evidence-based care. He undertook specialist training in the UK at Christie Hospital (Manchester), Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital (London), and completed a uro-oncology fellowship in Colchester. He also completed an ERUS-certified fellowship in robotic surgery in Guildford. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Urology) in 2015. Prior to joining the Royal Surrey, he worked as a Consultant Urologist at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, providing robotic prostatectomy and core urology services for the North East of England. Research & Teaching Mr Kusuma is actively involved in research and education, with 80+ peer-reviewed publications and contributions to European Association of Urology guidelines. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Surrey School of Medicine and teaches on national urology and robotics training programmes.
