About Mr Umar Hussain
Mr Umar Hussain is a Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Urogynaecologist at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, where he has been practicing since 2022. He previously held consultant roles across London and the East of England, following the award of his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2013. He completed all of his specialist training in the UK, primarily in London and the East of England, and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2011. His advanced subspecialty training took place at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he completed both an Advanced Training Skills Module and a fellowship in urogynaecology and pelvic floor medicine. Mr Hussain is registered with the British Society of Urogynaecology, in line with national standards for urogynaecology practice in the UK. He is also an affiliate member of the International Urogynaecological Association and the International Continence Society. He has developed specialist expertise in endoanal ultrasound and anorectal manometry, having trained at the Croydon Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Unit. He provides dedicated care for women with perineal trauma, including obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASI), and plays an important role in postnatal pelvic floor services. Mr Hussain has extensive experience in delivering comprehensive urogynaecology care through specialist clinics, offering access to pelvic floor physiotherapy and continence services within a single setting. He also runs urodynamics clinics and provides one-stop services combining diagnostic testing and consultation, improving efficiency and patient experience. His practice includes ambulatory urogynaecology, focusing on delivering high-quality, minimally invasive care in an outpatient environment. Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education and training. He serves as both an educational and clinical supervisor for trainee doctors, is an MRCOG examiner, and delivers courses locally and internationally to support candidates preparing for the MRCOG examinations. He has also contributed to the academic field with presentations at national and international conferences in both gynaecology and urogynaecology.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
