About Mr Tim Pencavel
Mr Tim Pencavel is a highly experienced Consultant General Surgeon. He has special interests in liver surgery, pancreatic surgery, gallbladder and bile duct surgery, and soft tissue lumps (E.g. cysts, lipoma). He has developed a very successful practice in minimally-invasive HPB surgery, both robotic and laparoscopic, and has also helped develop a percutaneous approach to difficult-to-manage gallstones. Mr Pencavel graduated from the prestigious Royal Free Campus of the Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2003. After completing his initial basic surgical training in North London, he undertook a period of research at the world-renowned Institute of Cancer Research, from where he was awarded his PhD in 2013. He received his Higher Surgical Training within the North West Thames deanery and included subspecialist HPB training at the Royal Marsden, Hammersmith and Royal Surrey hospitals. He went on to a post-CCT fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the Royal Marsden prior to being appointed as a locum consultant at the Royal Surrey in 2018, and becoming substantive there in 2019. His training at all levels in the Sarcoma and Rare Tumours unit means that he also has an interest in both benign and malignant soft-tissue lesions, especially triage and initial assessment. Mr Pencavel is often able to accomodate patients on an ad hoc basis by arrangement.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
