He completed a Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, where he also participated in community eye care initiatives focused on reducing avoidable blindness. He undertook further subspecialty training in anterior segment and cataract surgery at Aravind Eye Hospital, followed by advanced ophthalmology training in the United Kingdom at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Southend University Hospital.
His surgical expertise includes complex cataract procedures and glaucoma surgery, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) techniques such as Preserflo Microshunt, Hydrus microstent, OMNI system procedures, iStent implantation, and MiniJect devices. He also manages ocular surface disease and refractive conditions.
Mr Marpuri performs high-volume cataract surgery and glaucoma interventions, with experience in both routine and complex cases. His clinical work includes the assessment, diagnosis, and long-term management of chronic eye disease, with an emphasis on surgical planning and outcomes.
He contributes to ophthalmic education through trainee supervision and involvement in clinical teaching. He also participates in research and presents at ophthalmology meetings, supporting ongoing development in surgical techniques and patient care standards.
