Prof. Dr. med. Thorsten Steinfeldt ist Direktor der Klinik für Anästhesiologie, Intensivmedizin und Schmerzmedizin an der BG Unfallklinik Frankfurt am Main. Er ist Facharzt für Anästhesiologie mit Spezialisierungen in Intensivmedizin, Palliativmedizin, spezieller Schmerztherapie und Notfallmedizin.Seine Forschung in der experimentellen und klinischen Regionalanästhesie wurde mit mehreren wissenschaftlichen Auszeichnungen gewürdigt, darunter der August-Bier-Preis und die ESRA Albert Van Steenberge Honorary Lecture. Im Jahr 2014 wurde er zum außerplanmäßigen Professor an der Philipps-Universität Marburg ernannt. Seine wissenschaftlichen Studien zur Sicherheit in der Regionalanästhesie sind international anerkannt und haben weltweit Einfluss auf Empfehlungen zur Sicherheit dieser Verfahren.Er verfügt über die Weiterbildungsbefugnis zum Facharzt für Anästhesiologie sowie für die Zusatzweiterbildungen Intensivmedizin und spezielle Schmerztherapie. Seit 2012 ist die Klinik für Anästhesiologie, Intensivmedizin und Schmerzmedizin unter seiner Leitung mit ihrem strukturierten interdisziplinären Konzept zur Akutschmerzmedizin durch den TÜV zertifiziert.Er war von April 2016 bis Mai 2021 Chefarzt der Klinik für Anästhesie, Intensivmedizin und Schmerztherapie bei Diakoneo in Schwäbisch Hall. Davor war er als geschäftsführender Oberarzt der Klinik für Anästhesie, Intensivtherapie und Schmerztherapie am UKGM Marburg tätig. Seine medizinische Ausbildung absolvierte er an der Philipps-Universität Marburg, wo er sein Staatsexamen in Humanmedizin erlangte.
